Un operaio edile di 54 anni del Massachusetts \u00e8 deceduto dopo aver mangiato per 2 settimane consecutive una pacco e mezzo di caramelle alla liquirizia al giorno. Come sottolineano nel case report pubblicato sull'autorevole The New England Journal of Medicine, la troppa liquirizia ha provocato un crollo del potassio e altre alterazioni negli elettroliti, che hanno determinato un arresto cardiaco per fibrillazione ventricolare e il successivo decesso.
